Frames per Second

Heyo! It’s another glorious Thursday here at 3rd Shift Studios (I actually mean it this time), which means another fresh edition of your favorite Weekly Cheese. I’d say consume in moderation, but I’d only feel right saying that if I didn’t shove my face full of cheese on a nightly basis. It’s my burden to bear…but hey - you’re here now! So I’ll squirrel the bag of shredded cheese away and we’ll take a gander at what the team’s been up to over the past few days.

The Stuff and Things

  • Ryan

    • Configured the Unity Matchmaking system to wait for two teams to enter a queue before spinning up a Multiplay Server.

    • Adjusted gameplay logic to assign teams based on the Matchmaker Ticket teams + fixed ticket creation logic.

    • Added in the Desert Map Junk (lookin good Mike + Bryan).

    • Hopefully resolved an issue with players not getting pulled into a match (the ol' "works over here" for now).

    • Revamped Dev Map.

    • Got equipping + holstering animations back in.

    • Feel like theres more but I’m cooked rn.

    • A lot of stimulants this week... I will not disclose what (for legal purposes, it was cold brew).

  • Bryan

    • Tier 3 objects and recipes in progress. City Map Junk items have been given their short item descriptions.

    • Cooking with Mike on 3D models continues to be the highlight of my week. His art reveals give me goose pimples.

    • Only barked at Ryan a couple of times about gameplay improvements. Improvements have been implemented. Bryan is happy, and proud of Ryan.

  • Daniel

    • Dealing with college work now, unfortunately my contributions will not be as exquisite, extravagant, exemplary, etc. Still working hard both in school and on the shtuff for Afflicted.

    • Nameplates now appropriately look at the camera.

    • Fixed an issue with Fusion disconnecting when closing the server brower (for testing purposes)

  • Marc

    • A busy man, though he remains legendary. Cooking up some fresh memes - trust.

  • Mike

    • Worked on some sweet models for Swamp map junk! They look awesome, you’ll just have to believe it until you can gaze upon them and weep for their beauty.

  • Alex

    • Started building out the basics of the Swamp map, and its first POI - the plane crash! This dude is cooking fr.

  • Cole

    • Started fleshing out the basics of the weapon mold icons. Also made a new Discord entrance sound for myself.

In Closing

Churned hard this week on everything this week, and we’re starting to see some of the core systems really nailed down again. With our good pal Daniel starting college, things may slow up a bit - but the creative side of the house is just heating up. So if you see the Rocket around, give him words of encouragement. And you know what, the same goes for our good community members Gloop and Rindles - who will also be starting their collegiate journeys soon. Life is a journey of continuous learning, and it pays to remember that.
