Building is the Hardest Part
11 April, 2024
It’s Thursday, which means it’s time for…The Weekly Cheese! Imagine, if you can, glorious theme music not unlike The Price is Right. That’s what’s playing in my head almost constantly. That, and this scene from Lord of the Rings. But enough about me, let’s move on.
If you build it, they will come.
Such is the way of the world, and the same can be said about afflicted builds. Builds that took so long, that even your mo Ryan’s patience was waning. You may have asked last week: “What is that smiley face for? What is Ryan up to?” Well let me tell you…
Ryan
Got the new development rig up and running. Build times reduced by 60%.
Fixed an issue causing player flesh vessels to not spawn due to null exception.
Baseline functionality implemented for Tier 1 and Tier 2 weapon augments.
Met with Bryan a bunch to discuss Augment UI layout, functionality, and uniformity.
Bryan
Not a whole heck of a lot. Spent most of the week prepping for my patriotic duties (taxes)
Continued back and forth with Ryan over the UI layout, now that UI concept has been accepted and ground has been broken.
Play testing, play testing, play testing.
Marc
More memes for more fiends. That didn’t rhyme.
Mike
Still plugging along on animation work. With how the augments pan out, it’ll be interesting to see how they adapt.
Cole
Still working on icons for materials, components, and map posters. This last week was not super productive (womp).
Added some more automod restrictions to discord! Begone, bot!
Augments? What augments?
You may have heard mention of augments up above, but what exactly are they? Not that the system has been finalized in any way, but augments are afflicted’s way of letting players customize how they play. Do you prefer faster movement speed or reload speed? Do you want a tighter shot pattern on that rifle of yours? Look no further than Augments! We’ll have more details coming soon about how they’ll work, but we think this will give players a lot more freedom when it comes to playing afflicted. And we all love Freedom, amirite?
In Closing
With the new dev machine in Ryan’s hands, we’re back up and running! Testing the augments this week was fun, so nailing down that system will be a great way to allow players to play how they want. Catchy, I like it. That’s all from us this week, folks. Stay safe and don’t stare at the sun.
I have too much energy,
Squid
