Fusion, or Fission?

21 June, 2024

Unless your calendar-challenged like me, you might notice that today is Friday (and therefore, not Thursday). You might say to me: “Squid - I was waiting for the Weekly Cheese last night. What gives?” Well, you know what - I’m sorry. I was lost in the proverbial sauce of the week and it just slipped my mind. Frankly inexcusable, but I’m here now! Let’s dive in.

The Details

This week saw a lot of things happen around the 3rd Shift Studios workflow and exciting things are happening (even if they’re more behind-the-scenes)! Let’s check in with the team and see what’s going on:

  • Ryan

    • Upgrading to Fusion 2 (kill me).

      • I never received a Cold Brew count, but we can assume +/- 15

  • Bryan

    • It’s official: Tier 1 Map Junk, Components, and Weapons have all been defined. The Metaforge finally has a purpose, and we can’t wait to implement. With the creation of mathematical recipes comes an ample amount of balance testing, but that’s just another excuse to play test/satisfy our violent urges.

    • Rocket and I put all our stat points into “wit”, then implemented a handful of triggering one-liners to follow your Rhythm Rally runs. Git gud m8.

  • Daniel

    • Assisting Bryan with his creative endeavors across the board.

    • Developing a UI and functionality for accessing quests while in the game!

    • Still maintaining a strong lead on the Rhythm Rally leaderboard (much to my dismay - Squid).

    • A handful of other stuff………

  • Marc

    • Hawk Tuah

  • Mike

    • Still a busy bee!

  • Bruce

    • The man, the myth, the Bruce. He’s still out there in the wilds.

  • Cole

    • Getting close to finishing out the city map poster - just need to lock down my Terry pose.

    • Starting work on iconography for components and raw crafting materials!

    • Revisiting audio log ideas, since I think those are worthwhile.

In Closing

Our upgrade to Fusion 2.0 is leaving Ryan feeling a bit frazzled, but we’re all in pretty high spirits around here! The creative side of the house is getting caught up with all the new and exciting pieces of afflicted that we’ve been working on and things as a whole are working well. Hopefully playtesting next week will reveal some more insights that we can share with the community.

Fashionably late,

Squid
