And the Vacation of The Soldier

Sup, fellas. It is Wednesday (jumpscare) and in place of the honorary Squid Gumbo, I, Rocket, have been called upon to prepare a fresh Weekly Cheese that you will. WILL. enjoy. Squid is on vacation this week, and I get the privilege of answering his glorious call for assistance. In his far away Journey, Squid is engaging in talks with his friend, the mysterious Sir Alex of Map Creation-ea (I tried). I can’t wait to see what they will deliver. In the meantime, let’s see what the team has been cooking over the past week.

The What-For

  • Ryan

    TLDR : Ton of nerdy data uwu stuff

    • Added footstep audio for all surfaces, reconfigured footstep settings asset for Terry.

    • Ton of database unique identification work and bug fixes.

    • Automated recoil asset linking to weapons.

    • Cleaned up weapon script to puall from its underlying data asset file (weapons should really only hold graphics and transform information... stats should come from the asset file so its all editable through the dashboard).

    • Refactored all EntityData references and replaced with DataDefinition.

    • Deleted all legacy EntityData + EntityDatabase... goodnight, sweet prince.

    • Fixed a few bugs in the cloud inventory system.

    • Added RecoilDefinition, EmoteDefinition, BaseDecorationDefinition, RecipeDefinition, QuestDefinition... whatever you get the point.

    • Readded Augment definition + got all stat modification from legacy project readded. Also added a jump modifier.

    • Created template projectile definitions for all weapons.

    • Bunch of 3rd Shift Dashboard work.

    • Refactored UI that referenced EntityData.

  • Bryan

    • Tier 2 Map Junk short descriptions and breakdown recipes are complete. Tier 2 weapon recipes in progress.

  • Daniel

    • Reintegrated Rhythm Rally into the arcade (scores appear on leaderboard).

    • Changing Room for skin selection now to be named Clone Selector. Clicking on a TV monitor now transitions you into CCTV footage of Terry’s clones in the clone dungeon.

    • Logic and UI transitions reintegrated for weapon vendors. Refactored the views to make them more concise and reduce duplicated code.

    • Weapon loadout selection and augment selection reimplemented in the loadout lab.

    • Airlock lobby system reimplemented. You can now stare at yourself and your friends just sitting there (I’m working on getting matchmaking finished just hold on tight).

    • Continuing to reimplement previous bunker features. Going to be adding the splash screen back in and adding the new item data that Bryan’s been cooking up, amongst other things.

    • He literally posted a meme today, I bet y’all didn’t even notice… (But if you did you’re a real one).

  • Mike

    • Being next level creative. Continuing to cook up absolute gourmet dishes with Bryan.

    • Reigning over his kingdom once again.

    • I made the spring icon and am working on the teckie parts icon.

    • Familiarizing Alex with the basics of the project.

The 21-Gun Salute

No… nobody died. But we might as well stay in theme for sending off this edition of the weekly cheese, right? The team is continuing to blaze forward, and the Fusion 2 conversion is coming along so fast you’d almost think it never happened. We are almost ready to begin internal playtesting again, and are excited to continue producing the Quadruple A title (but like minus 4 A’s and plus the words indie and awesome) that is Afflicted. It is still very hot outside, so make sure you bring a hand fan to keep King BRUCE cooled off while our mighty soldier is on an adventure.
