He Won’t Come Back

//// APPROVED FOR GENERAL RELEASE ////
//// REDACTION POLICY TR-17-76A IN EFFECT ////
Journal of one (1) Jackson Emmund (dec.) - Final entry
//// TRANSCRIPTION START ////
3 days. It’s been 3 days since that bastard [REDACTED] took off to “get help”, whatever that meant. Not like it matters anymore. The bleeding stopped yesterday on its own - not a good sign. All those trainings and briefings before we left the bunker and for what? For [REDACTED] to leave me at the first sign of trouble? Damn him. Damn them all.
Whoever finds this, and I hope someone finds this, just know that the bunkers should never be opened. There’s too many of these damn [REDACTED] for humanity to ever make a comeback. Heh. Ouch. I shouldn’t make myself laugh.
//// SCRAWLED DRAWING OF A CAT - CRUDE ////
Don’t think I’ll ever get to see [REDACTED] again. That damn cat, always knew he’d outlive me somehow. If whoever finds this happens to know the location of Bunker [REDACTED], pop in and give him a pat on the head for me, won’t you? He loves those.
I can’t believe I got duped into coming out here. Save the world? What a joke. I couldn’t even save myself from the first [REDACTED] we saw. I should’ve kept my ass in the bunker.
[REDACTED], if you find this: [REDACTED].
